1. Introduction An open channel is a conduit in which a liquid flows with a free surface. Free surface- Interface between moving liquid & overlying fluid medium with constant pressure. Prime motivating force- Gravity Weight of fluid along the slope acts as driving force The boundary resistance at the perimeter act as the resisting force. Waterflow is largely turbulent regime with negligible surface tension effects Froude number ( Non-dimensional No.) which governs the flow References 1.
